World Cup Final: Live reaction and coverage from halftime

With the World Cup coming to a close today in East Rutherford, New Jersey, what better time is there to provide instant reaction of the biggest match of the year for all the Barfield Sports soccer fans.

Spain vs. Argentina for all the glory and everything you need to know can be found right here on this live page, updated throughout the course of the game.

Coming into the game, Spain’s odds to “lift the trophy” sit at -165, making them a heavier favorite against the 2022 World Cup Champions, Argentina.

Before the match starts, as customary, let’s make our pick.

Prediction: Argentina 1 – Spain 0

The greatest to ever do it, Lionel Messi, scores a goal in the 88th minute to lift Argentina to their second straight World Cup victory, joining Italy (1934, 1938) and Brazil (1958, 1962) as only the third country to ever accomplish this feat.

Spain has only allowed one goal coming into this match all tournament, but something tells me Messi is not leaving the World Cup for good without a bang. Let’s hope it’s a great game, and cheers to everyone watching at home!

World Cup Final: Live coverage

First Half

Unfortunately, Barfield Sports was not able to secure broadcasting rights to the first half (I had some duties to attend to but was dedicated to superior second half and beyond coverage).

I am dogsitting a bulldog named Rocky (see below) this week and he required some extra care before I could watch the whole game. He also lives a long ways from my apartment. Anyways, I will try to link some first half highlights if they become available, but the video no longer plays on the FOX website.

Halftime

I went to the bathroom and I came back to Shakira and Burna Boy on stage performing.

Now there is what looks like the ps22 Chorus, a Webby Award-winning public elementary school chorus located in Graniteville, New York. I only know that because I looked it up.

It seems as though I completely missed Justin Bieber, I guess he only got paid a bazillion dollars for the first five minutes. However, I shouldn’t be making of this halftime show. Per FIFA:

The famous streamer “Speed” also performed a song for the crowd.

Now it’s time for live coverage of the second half, and possibly beyond, from Barfield Sports. Grab your popcorn!

Celebration

19-year-old Barcelona soccer star Lamine Yamal shared a moment with Lionel Messi after the match was over.

Argentina’s chance to win back to back World Cups fell short, as Spain was the country who took home the trophy, their nation’s second in history and first since 2010.

President Donald Trump carried the trophy (with some help from FIFA President Gianni Infantino) to the Spanish team after handing them all their medals. He received large boos from the crowd upon his entrance.

Until next time…
